Minutes from the January 19 meeting were made available online prior to the meeting, and were approved as posted.

Nominating committee chairman Michelle Mann announced the 2006-2007 slate of officers:

Placement:  Heather Helmer and Ginger Armstrong passed out a member Placement Survey for 2006-2007 for those in attendance to fill out and return tonight.  Based on these placements survey, the board will decide at the March meeting what the placement options will be.

Fishing tournament:  Kay Dunkin and Elissa Vann presented some details about the tournament.  It will be May 6 at El Jefe’s in Port Mansfield .There will be a Calcutta and registration on May 5 at Baloo’s.  Cost is $400.00 per boat.  Fishing will begin at 5:00 AM, weigh in at 3:30.  Prizes will be awarded to best boat and best male and female total.

There will be a fish fry dinner following, as well as a raffle.  Winner need not be present.

The committee will meet again Tuesday Feb. 21 at the League office.  All are welcome to attend.

Lisa Hutchens spoke on sale of tickets to the 2006 Men’s Futures Tournament

At $5.00 each.  JLH gets $4.00, $1.00 per ticket would go to Miracle kids.  She has tickets available to sell, and if we sell all we pledged to, we should make around $1,600.00.

RMH- Shower “Clutter Cupid’s Closet” for the House that Love Built  will be February 18.  Sat. AM Drop-off at San Benito and Harlingen Wal-Mart locations. The committee still needs members willing to be at these locations to pass put flyers and collect donations. The shower will be from 2:30-4:30 at RMH.  First Community Bank locations are available as drop off points prior to the shower.  Members willing to provide refreshments for the shower were reminded to bring what they signed up for by 1:30 that day. Wish lists are available. Collaborations with St. Alban’s, St. Paul’s, Episcopal Day School have been set up, donations will be collected from them and brought to the shower. Teri Funk and Lisa Hutchens have organized radio, TV, and newspaper publicity.Flyers were sent to sustainers, and trailer parks.  Please wear your League shirts, and/or something red or pink.  Bring the kids!

Relay for Life date is April 7-8.  Theme:  “Toon out Cancer”.  Our theme will be Superwoman (Superheros) to go with our president’s theme for year.  Wear JLH Superwoman shirts or League shirts.  We will order more superwoman shirts if needed. Walkers needed to raise at least $100.00 each for team sponsorship. We will be partnering with Dana Carter’s kids from Calvary Christian school to share costs of team, decorations and tents.  This will also boost our presence.  Luminaries can be purchased for $5.00 each.  Opening Ceremony will be 5:30 p.m. April 7, first lap at 6:00 p.m.

Kathy Preddy, League Sustainer, spoke to us about RioFest.  We will be helping Sunday April 23, 2006 from 1PM-3PM with the RioFest Festival Spectacle.  Details are on the handout given.  Contact Tiffany Preddy if you have any questions.

Our April will meeting will be held on the RioFest grounds.  We will be treated to hamburgers.  The carnival will be open for our families to enjoy.

Treasurer’s report:  No balance or account information given.  Charity event 2005 money available for program funding has still not been finalized. There are several outstanding invoices to collect.  As these funds are received, they will be put into a discretionary fund for use as requests are made throughout next year.  The total available for disbursement, in the bank for program funding to be decided tonight is 19,674.24.
