According to the By Laws of The Junior League of Harlingen, Inc., following are requirements of membership:
- A prospective member must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age prior to the fiscal year in which she might become a Provisional member.
- She shall be a resident of the Harlingen area. A non-resident prospective member shall not have lived outside the Harlingen area more than five (5) years and shall not live close enough to another Junior League to participate in that League's Provisional training.
- She shall demonstrate an interest in voluntarism; a commitment to community service; or an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation.
- The prospective member shall be sponsored by one League member.
- Once the prospective member has been offered and accept an invitation for membership, she must complete the Provisional Course before being elected to Active membership by the Board.
- Active and Provisional members shall be required to attend membership meetings.
- Dues and Fees (customarily due at the April General Membership Meeting):
- Provisional Members: $108.00
- Active Members: $88.00
- Sustaining Members: $53.00
- Honorary Members: Free
- Late Fee: $15.00
- Each member shall support all Ways and Means projects of the League which currently includes:
- RioFest - Hours worked during the festival in the approved booth as determined by the Board of Directors. A $50 fine per shift will be imposed on anyone not fulfilling her shift.
- Charity Event - Every member shall be required to fulfill all financial oblicgations deemed appropriate by the committee and must be met by the given date.
